  2001 - Resource Center Report

  Cher Hersrud, Director

The Resource Center has just completed its fourth year of operation, as a division of the North Dakota Community Foundation.

Support from The Otto Bremer Foundation has allowed me to work with more than 100 nonprofit organizations in areas of planning, board training, and fundraising.
They say time flies when you are having fun and there is never a dull moment for The Resource Center. I have the pleasure of working with the many committed North Dakotans who manage and sustain the nonprofit organizations and rural communities across this state.  It is an understatement to say that I love my job.
Volunteer effort in North Dakota provides youth programs, health services, community development, and arts education.  When there is a need within a community, North Dakotans organize to meet that need. This commitment to community is inspiring.
It is the goal of The Resource Center to support this effort and to strengthen nonprofit organizations and rural communities, and their ability to meet the needs within the state.
Funding from The Otto Bremer Foundation and the support of The North Dakota Community Foundation allows me to work with small nonprofit organizations for little or no fee.  This is significant statewide support.
Rural community development is a real issue within the state.  We may not all grow, but we can maintain our quality of life.  Planning and collaboration are keys to community success.
To support rural community development, regional workshops will be offered in 2002 to support community project development.
