Jay Fagerholt Memorial Scholarship
Fund Background: The Jay Fagerholt Memorial Fund was established in 1994 by family and friends to honor Jay who
died in a plane crash near Woonsocket, SD while on a pheasant hunt with friends. Jay Fagerholt was born June 22, 1954 to Art and Elvina (Rustan) Fagerholt. Jay was educated in the Hoople and Valley Public Schools. He married Betty Jo Bergman on June 22, 1975. Jay and Betty Jo had one son, John. Jay and his brother Mark farmed near Hoople. The brothers raised potatoes and small grains. Jay was an avid pilot. He received his private pilot’s license from the University of North Dakota and later achieved his instrument and multiengine rating. Jay was active in his community and his church. The Fund was established to remember him and his contributions to the Hoople community.
Eligibility Requirements: Each year, the local Committee shall recommend a recipient for the award.
Applications accepted January 1 - April 1 only. Applications received outside of this window will NOT be accepted.
