David Wagner Scholarship
Background: The David Wagner Scholarship provides two (2) scholarships to seniors of Oakes High School. The scholarships are in the amount of $500 each. The recipients will receive a $500 scholarship after completing the first semester of college and proving proof of enrollment in the second semester. This will be done at the school counselor's office.
David Wagner was a graduate of LaMoure High School, Class of 1962. He joined the Marines and was discharged in 1966. Between LaMoure and Oakes, he was a substitute teacher for 36 years. He grew up on the farm, where his love for agriculture started, and continued until his passing.
Eligibility Requirements: To be considered for a $500 scholarship, you must be a graduating in the current school year from Oakes High School and enrolling in Agriculture or an Education Degree. You must also be attending college in the fall of your graduating year.
Applicants must provide the following:
- Complete and submit the SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION online.
- Submit your high school transcript.
- Submit one letter of recommendation describing the applicant's work ethic.
- Include a 150 word typed essay.
- Include a list of all community and school activities involved during time at OPS.
- Include a list of special achievements received, and proud moments in life.
