Theo Torgerson Memorial Scholarship

Fund Background: The Theo Torgerson Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 1985 through the Will of Mr. Torgerson who was a resident of Park River. Of Norwegian descent, he was interested in young people and was deeply respected by residents of Park River. When he was honored by the Walsh County Press with the Special Person Award, the Press said of him, "He is a friend-in-deed to everyone he chances to meet and many people have been favored by his helpful attitudes and friendly personality." Mr. Torgerson was killed in a three-car collision in Park River in September, 1984.

Eligibility Requirements: To financially assist students from Walsh County attending a public supported post secondary institution in North Dakota and who will be in the last two years of the educational process. Both academic performance and financial need will be reviewed in making a determination. The award will be made in the fall of each year.
